I haven't run a step in 2012 and I don't expect to start anytime soon due to my current injuries. This lack of training has left me with an abundance of gels that are just begging to be consumed. My loss is your gain! One lucky winner will receive an assortment of delicious vanilla, chocolate and strawberry GU energy gels. OK, I have to admit they're not as yummy as a turkey and cheese sandwich at mile 30 but they will get you to the next aid station or help you through a long training run.
The contest rules are simple. Just leave a comment here letting me know you want in. Your name will go in a hat (or maybe a box or on the kitchen table) and one lucky winner will be drawn (in about one week) and announced here. That's it. Anyone that amuses me with a clever comment about why they love GU gels will get and extra chance to will. If you win just shoot an email to me with your name and address and I'll get these off to you pronto.
Good Luck!
Sad to here this Dan......I wish the best for you and hope you get healthy and runnung real soon. In portland Maine they have a weekly running group to help city kids get into wholesome activities. It is called X-city running, perhaps if there is a group like this near you, you could donate the Gu to the kids? otherwise, I would like to put their name in the hat and can send you a link to the founder.

Sorry to hear that you aren't running yet, but sure I want in ;-), at least to enter the GU gel contest :-)
ReplyDeleteHey.. I'm in! I am only now getting to the point of moving into longer runs, and I've heard these come in handy.. would love to give them a try. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI want in! GUs aren't my favorite, but free stuff is.
ReplyDeleteHey Dan, hope you heal up soon. This aging thing is getting to a lot of us. A couple of things about GU. 1. It gives you a good energy boost. 2. When a packet chocolate explodes and runs down you leg people take it as something else and stay away from you. 3. Getting it on you hands then rubbing your eyes make for some interesting eyelash sticking open or closed. 4. If the soul of your shoe starts to come apart use the GU as an all purpose adhesive to re-attach it.
ReplyDeleteHeal up buddy.
Scotty, Are you speaking from experience?
DeleteDan - so sorry to hear you aren't running :( Hope you are feeling better soon! Throw me in the hat and if you want a great GU story ask Deb and Liz about their first experience with it :-)
ReplyDeleteDare I ask?
DeleteDan, throw my name in for the GU... if you're sure you want to give it away. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, ride a bike. If you can't ride, paddle. Find something your body likes and do it!
ReplyDeleteLaurel, I'm walking 12-15 hours a week. It's all I can do right now.
DeleteFrom JaseFifty1: Awww... don't give up on your energy gels. I mean, aren't they like twinkies? They never really go bad do they? When you get back in the game, you're gonna wish you hadn't gotten rid of them.
ReplyDelete(Sorry Jase, I deleted your comment in error. You're entered. Don't worry, I have plenty to share! Dan)
OMG! It's like taking boots off a fallen soldier. I need spare boots.
ReplyDeleteThis is just wrong....GU (like Cheese Whiz) cannot go bad. It's like a primordial ooze...and you WILL be back....But I'm in...Carpe GUem...However I will hold the GU in escrow (with the exception of any Chocolate Outrage packets)...They will be returned as you need them - like when you fatigue from Wed. nite timing...Get healthy!
ReplyDeleteBill, you're almost right. These expire on 12/2012. I never fatique from timing. I'm having too much fun!
DeleteDan,
ReplyDeleteThrow my name in for the GU. I hope you get well soon!
